A Birthday With Bunny

All birthday's come with surprises . . . and Reece's First with his Bunny was no exception. Reece was thrown his first Surprise Party, and even though he had no idea what a surprise party even was, I know he enjoyed every single second spent with his family.

We went to spend the New Year weekend with Trent's family and was happily surprised when we got there to find out Reece was having a birthday party at Tristen's house the following day. There would be cakes, presents, family and fun. And of course love. If only Reece knew how so loved he was.

The birthday started with Reece playing out in the yard and saying hello to everyone with his precious smile. He crawled all over the grass, he still hadn't perfected his walking yet, while grabbing handfuls of grass. Foliage should have been his middle name. Or I should just teach him how to cut the grass with his bare hands. I mean, while he's down there he could at least be being productive, right? Or not. But we let pull it out to his little heart's desire, before he got to go "flying". Another one of Reece's favorite things, him being thrown in the air. His giggles will go on forever. And if my arms didn't get tired, he'd get thrown forever, but this time he was being thrown by both Bunny and Tristen, so he got a nice, long ride. And we got en extra happy birthday boy. :)

Is it a bird? A plane? No, it's a REECE! :)
With the air full of laughter the party had now begun and everyone went inside where the real festivities began. We ate and then opened the mound of presents Reece had received. He went from present to present, inspecting everything surrounding him, as only a wee little one can. He played with some wrapping paper and some boxes and Ella's hair as well, but Reece was still having birthday fun.

And he continued to have fun, until it was cake time. And a birthday hat was placed on his head. Tears now ensued. So no hat for the little one. But cake would make everything better. And at this party, Reece was the proud owner of two birthday cakes. One cake was for the family to enjoy and one was all his own - to play with and destroy. After candles were blown out and he was stripped down to his diaper, his body became a canvas for some icing art. He was covered from his tiny blond hairs to his diaper, covered in a rainbow of birthday icing. But I know he didn’t mind one bit. But what baby does? It's way more fun to mold cheese on your sippy cup than putting it in your mouth. Just like it's way more fun to wear your cake than to eat it.

Then Reece Foliage Weigand decided he had enough cake and went off to play in the grass again and grab some leaves to play with, before he went inside and was given a birthday bath to clean off his rainbow body. And then he played a bit more with his toys and Sundae and Ella and the rest of the family in his new birthday pajamas. And he spent the rest of his time there warming our hearts, just as he has become part of our hearts. One little year, one little boy, and hearts so full of love for him. Just wait until next year and the next. Our love has only begun to grown for this precious little one. And with each birthday our hearts will only become more full.

So a birthday with family. A birthday with cakes. A birthday with Bunny love. And just plain love. Not many days could get any better.  :)
